A Prayer For Melania

This week I have been especially impressed to think about and pray for Melania Trump and her son, Barron. I love watching her with her son. She has the same adoration and attention that I do to my son. I also have one child, a son. He is my delight. I gave up my career to be a mom, and several years later I closed a business…to be a mom.

When I see her look at Barron, talk about him, and when she made a choice to stay in NYC to make the transition for Barron easier, I completely understood her. She has her priorities right, no matter what is said.

With her husband being the focus of all the attention of prayers, declarations, and prophecies, I questioned who was committed to praying for her in the very tough role she is responsible for as a mother, and partner to the President of The United States.

The evangelical community is hovering over President Trump like buzzards, everyone wanting a chance to speak into his life and give him direction. Their hearts are right, but how does Trump filter through all the voices fighting to be the “one” that advises and influences him in godly ways? In the midst of all the fuss, does Melania feel a little ignored? And not just with evangelicals. Her husband is rightfully garnering all the attention of the world and sure, some of that spills over to her. Yet I can’t help wondering if, in the midst of all the upheaval, she still feels lonely. The reality is, her husband has just checked out emotionally for the next 4 or 8 years and will be devoted to the presidency.

With everyone vying for the time and attention of her husband, I wonder…does she feel lonely during this time? The President of the USA has the world on his shoulders, but the wife of the President carries the weight of her husband, and all that he has, and the pressures of keeping the family together. I never considered all that our leaders give. It breeds new respect for the Obamas as well.

So I asked the Lord how I should pray for her today.

I also want to add that I was deeply convicted at my
lack of devotion to pray for the Obamas. I prayed
occasionally for them, but it was my duty as a citizen
of Heaven and of the USA to intercede for my president
and his family - no matter my agreement with them.
I am truly sorry for not joyously praying for them as
often as I should have. I wish them the best in their
future and pray that their hearts will be soft to the voice
and hand of the Lord.

My bible was open to Colossians and it was perfect! Praying scripture is the best. I decided to write a prayer letter to First Lady, Melania Trump, in the style of Paul, the apostle. I share it with you in the hopes that you, too, will pray for this woman with so much on her shoulders.

I, Harper, a child, princess, and warrior of the Most-High God, and His Son, Jesus Christ,

To, First Lady Melania Trump, highly-favored one and called by God to influence the people and nations of the world.

Grace and peace to you from God the Father. The One who called you, who created you for such a time as this, and who holds you close to His heart. He sees you, He hears you, He whispers in your ear.

I give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you and your son, Barron.

Since the day you were called, as a family, to the greatest service and highest honor of our land, I have not ceased to pray for you and your son and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might to be firm and patient; joyously giving thanks to the Father for all He has entrusted to you…

First as a mother, then as a wife and partner, and in leading and serving our nation.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
